Uniqlo + J
I was going to go to Uniqlo because I felt like I needed a new beanie, but this was the line outside of the store:
Two days after the debut of the Jil Sander for Uniqlo line, they are still making people wait outside….I looked inside the store, and it was no more crowded than usual. Marketing tactic I guess.
The infamous minimalist that was pushed out of her eponymous label in 2004 has...

Rendez-Vous New York
Rendez-Vous returned to New York for its second installment from September 18-21. Juma was there along with tens of other designers from across the country and globe. This time, only Alia was able to make the trip, but we had a great time hanging out at the show, and galavanting around Manhattan and Williamsburg.
Unlike Vegas, I made sure to take pictures of my favorite Juma pieces. It was a...
Deuces Wall Street
Peace out Investment Banking! After a year+ of residence in purgatory, God has triumphed over Lucifer and I am freeee!!! I guess I’m being a bit dramatic, but its good to finally be on the path towards something that I am passionate about.
This is how I felt skipping home on my last day:
To be entirely honest though, leaving was surprisingly bittersweet. I expected only to be...

Fashion Week Party Circuit
So, somehow managed to hit up a good number of parties this fashion week. The week started on Thursday, September 10th, and continued until September 17th. Though its almost a week after the fact, here’s a day-by-day chronicle of my nightly excursions:
Thursday: Hit up Opening Ceremony for Fashion’s Night Out. You can read about it on a previous post dated September 14, 2009. ...
My Up Close and Personal Encounter with Anna...
and by “encounter,” I mean, we were in the same room…but to be fair, she was pretty darn close. “how close?” you ask…?? This close:
“and where were you?” you ask…? actually, you probably don’t really care, but I was at the Tory Burch presentation. Here’s a picture of the Wintour and Tory together:

'Performance'
Vogue Italia. September 2009. by Steven Meisel.
As anticipated, reports show that Fashion Night Out was a popular success, but commercial flop. Retailers managed to draw crowds, but failed to entice attendees to purchase. I’m not sure what made the planners of the event think that it would increase spending…the format of the event really didn’t encourage shopping. The crowds in most stores were definitely too big for...
its always strange when I spend the evening mingling among fashion-types, then button up a few hours later to go to work…not to mention that walking down Bedford Ave. in the morning is like a fashion competition, and my 3-button suit definitely comes in last place.
updates from the week to follow shortly, including my intimate encounter with Anna Wintour…as soon as I can find my...
just got back from philip lim and proenza schouler after parties. had to head home prematurely due to the complete lack of sleep last night. stay tuned for the DL on the parties….
Tim Hamilton is one of my absolute favorite menswear designers. After launching his menswear line in 2006, Tim has quickly become a household name, recently becoming CFDA-sanctioned by winning the 2009 Swarovski Award for Menswear.
I somehow managed to find myself at his viewing on Saturday to promote his S/S 2010 collection. Though the designer now shows in Paris, and his collection was seen on...
Damir Doma S/S 2010
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending Damir Doma’s installation for his S/S 2010 collection. The Croatian-born, Parisian-based designer held an event for New York fashion week, exhibiting select items from his collection, in addition to a video display of his most recent runway show held this past July.
I recently became fan of Doma’s after discovering his collection last...
I continue to amaze myself with my ability to function on little to no sleep. last night was eventful…john varvatos event, followed by avenue and lastly 1oak. got home at 5:30am and still managed to make it to the Tory Burch show at 9am. boooyah! details to follow….
Vegas
Okay, for this next post I’m going to back track a little bit to my trip with Juma a couple of weeks for Vegas tradeshows. To give some background, I started crashing tradeshows in New York a few months ago. Since my i-banking self had no real business there, I would adopt alternate personas, ranging from a Singaporean buyer to an investor from Abu Dhabi. It was at the Rendez-vous show last...
My "Fashion's Night Out"
Thousands descended upon the streets of New York on Thursday for the City’s inaugural Fashion’s Night Out event. After changing from my suit to skinny jeans in the office bathroom and enduring odd stairs on the seemingly long journey from the elevator to front door, I was finally able to join the swarms at around 9pm. Industry insiders, fashion enthusiasts and run-of-the mill consumers alike...
Introducing...
My story: I’m an investment banker…technically. I graduated from a premier New England university about a year ago. My alma mater is known for many things, but fashion is not its forte. Consequently, I did the same thing as an absurd number of my classmates…I moved to NY and took a job in investment banking. Since moving here about year ago, I’ve been inspired to rediscover...
